Event Information

Australia’s premier rowing event Sydney International Rowing Regatta (SIRR) will be back again from the 27th March to the 2nd April 2017 for another year of quality rowing.

You will be treated to a showcase of some of the best Australian rowing and para-rowing, be it in the Australian Open Rowing Championships, Australian Open Schools Rowing Championships and the King’s and Queen’s Cups Interstate Regatta.

It’s a great chance to get outdoors, meet some amazing people and see some of the best rowers, particularly the Australian Olympians after their amazing performance in Rio.

Volunteer Roles

Spectator Services Assistant

Volunteers will assist with controlling entry and exit points at the event, ensuring correct and safe passage of people and vehicles through barriers and providing general information and assistance to spectators.

Time Keeper

The timekeeper position is essential to ensure accurate timing of races. The timekeeper is positioned at strategic points along the course and will be responsible for the timing display at the finish line.

Site Office Assistant

An international event of this importance requires an extensive organisation and site office assistants are here to support this. The Site Office assistant will assist behind the scenes with daily administrative tasks.
This is a great position to gain an in depth understanding of event operation and administration.

Runners

Runners are an essential part of the event as they are the liaison between the different areas of the event. Each department needs to hold their position during the race hence the importance of the runner who will be delivering important messages and documents.

Drivers (Filled)

Drivers will assist the operations by driving a minivan and transporting people as required. You will need to have a full drivers licence and be confident in driving a 12 seater vehicle.
Drivers will also assist with general admin and runner tasks when not driving.

Limited numbers are required and preference will be given to returning volunteers for those roles. Some roles require an interview.

All roles are required to complete a minimum of 2 shifts for the event.
Some specialised roles require a higher minimum of shifts. Please see the position descriptions for more details.

  2. Select ‘Fill in an application’ on the right hand side of the page
  3. Follow the quick and easy steps to complete your volunteer profile
    *If you have previously volunteered with Rowing Australia, this form will be pre-filled and you only need to complete the added sections.
  4. Make sure you complete the GENERAL INTERESTS section so we can provide you with specific information once shifts are available for those areas.
  5. You will receive a confirmation email that your application has been submitted
  6. We will be in touch once shifts are available and invite you to register for specific dates and times.

Please be aware that all registration needs to be completed directly through the event website using the Rowing Australia Better Impact system. Registration cannot take place through the Eventeamwork CERVIS system.

Even if you are registered on the Eventeamwork CERVIS system you won’t be able to log in to the SIRR Better Impact automatically. You need to create a new profile following the link above.
