Parramasala is an international contemporary arts festival that celebrates the global impact of South Asianarts and cultures. The city of Parramatta comes alive with vibrant arts and entertainment including music, dance, theatre, comedy, film, markets and visual arts from around the world. Parramasala is presented in the city’s performing arts centre (Riverside Theatres) and other centrally located venues, including the Town Hall, outdoor stages and special festival sites. Apart from the ticketed programs, the festival embraces free concerts and performances, workshops, exhibitions and markets with South Asian food, fashion and handicrafts. The artists and acts presented in Parramasala come from many parts of the world. What they all have is one thing in common ‑ being influenced by aspects of South Asian culture and artistic traditions. There is no similar festival in this region of the world and probably in the whole world.
