City to Surf 2012

Event Date: 12 August 2012Location: Sydney City to Bondi Beach

Since 1971 Sydneysiders have been joined by participants from all over the world, elite athletes rubbing shoulders with locals to run, walk or watch the 14km race from Hyde Park in Sydney’s CBD to the finish at Bondi Beach.

City to Surf is a real Sydney experience and get involved in it is a must. If you are like us that running is not really your thing but engage with the community and having a great day out is what you are looking for, join our team!

Eventeamwork supports SOS Pakistan – Feed the Children Charity through managing a group of volunteers for the City to Surf.

SOS Pakistan is a charity very close to our hearts. The founder Rachel Cruz used to work in events with us, but 2 years ago decided to take a new path in her career. SOS Pakistan is one of the gold charities that City to Surf is supporting, so we have decided to donate to them as well. Your efforts will be a double reward this time – you help the event and one particular charity.  Check their website to see the amazing work they do
http://www.sospakistan-feedthechildren.org

You can support SOS Pakistan by running for them or volunteering for the event.

Volunteering at the City to Surf
Eventeamwork is looking for volunteers to assist the event as Surf Expo Volunteers, Start Line Assistants, Course Fillers and Loud Hailer marshals.

Surf Expo Volunteers
Volunteers will assist with:

  • Delivering positive customer service to all participants
  • Efficient race pack collection
  • Answering any last minute event day questions
  • Providing directions for those collecting their race packs
  • Searching participants names using an iPad or computer to find the corresponding race number

We will go through each of these before starting the shift to make sure everyone is comfortable with the duties

Start Line Assistants – FULL
You will help event organisers with the start line set up, direct participants to registration and their allocated start slots, give information and manage pedestrian flow. You will need to be fit to help move equipment around if required.

Start Line Loud Hailer Cycleway Marshals
If you are not shy and don’t mind using the loud hailer that is your position. You will be positioned along College Street to advise runners to watch the trip hazard along the cycleway on College Street north and south.

Course Marshal Fillers
You need to be flexible, like surprises J and be happy to do any position at the event. You may become a course marshal, a water station assistant or a finish line support.

You will only know your specific role on the day. You will start the day at Rushcutter Bay Park catching an event bus that will leave you in your position along the course. You might even finish in Bondi helping at the finish line.

Please note you will need to be able to arrive by your own means of transport at the meeting point. For information on how to get to the event location please see the City to Surf Transport page

All volunteers wearing their red 2012 City2Surf Volunteer t-shirt will receive free transport on all STA Railcorp, Sydney Ferries and private bus carriers to and from the event. We encourage the use of public transport where available, as parking is very limited on event day.
