On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate being Australian and what is great about our nation. It’s the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we have to be proud of.
At its core, Australia Day is a day driven by communities, and the celebrations held in each town, suburb or city – unified by the celebration of what’s great about Australia and being Australian – are the foundation of its ongoing success.
What is different in 2013?
The program for Australia Day has changed this year and we will be only looking after volunteers for Hyde Park and Martin Place.
Hyde Park will be known as “Summer Playground” – A wonderland of fun and fantasy for kids and kids at heart. It is the place for families to celebrate Australia Day through live entertainment, shows and activities.
Previous volunteers who have worked at The Rocks and Darling Harbour now might like to join shifts in Hyde Park. We will have shifts open for previous volunteers only until next Monday 3rd December. We will try to accommodate you the best we can.
VOLUNTEER ROLES INCLUDE
- Information Booth
- Kids Activities Support
- Line Management and Crowd Management
There are also shifts to be a Walker to escort trucks around Hyde Park during the set up of the event, these shifts are on Jan 23rd, 24th, 25th and 27th.
We are using a different system for the Australia Day shifts, which is called Shiftboard. If you have volunteered for the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet before you already have a Shiftboard account. You can just log in and choose a shift.
